Some are ultra luxe, some are super modern, all are extremely inviting. Here are 10 of the most exquisitely designed backyard and hotel pools on earth.
Stamford, Connecticut
$75 million may sound like an absurd amount of money to spend on a home, but when it’s as stunning as this home that sits on 262 acres of land between New York and Connecticut it doesn’t actually seem too crazy. And thanks to its indoor pool that looks like it comes straight out of a luxurious private spa, this estate is on the fast track to dream home status.
Lhasa, Tibet
Lined with thousands of gold tiles and “guarded” by a black and white sea serpent, the Gold Energy Pool at the St. Regis Lhasa proves that indoor pools can be just as luxe as an outdoor infinity pool.
London, England
A South London apartment complex is building the first-ever Sky Pool, made of eight-inch-thick glass and suspended 10-stories above ground. At 90-feet-long it will bridge two apartment buildings together — that’s certainly one way to travel to your neighbor’s to borrow a cup of sugar.
Santorini, Greece
Located over a thousand feet above sea level, the infinity pool at the Grace Santorini provides stunning views of the Aegean Sea and is the spot to take in the sunset on Santorini.
Los Altos Hills, California
Beyoncé, Jay Z, and Blue Ivy went the Airbnb route for Super Bowl 50. The famous family rented this $10,000 a night, five-bedroom, five-bathroom home that features a beautiful infinity pool and sweeping views of the San Francisco Bay Area.
Bali, Indonesia
The tiered infinity pools at the Hanging Gardens of Bali—located north of Ubud—give swimmers the feeling that they are floating high above the rainforest.
Napa Valley, California
A cube-shaped grotto rises majestically out of this gleaming pool, and the ceiling of the grotto is equipped with programmable LED light strips to further the artlike effect. Designed by Tom Leader Studio, this pool features “wet edges,” making it look like a surreal, edgeless expanse.
Canyon Point, Utah
After a day of hiking, the pool built right into the rocks at Amangiri is a welcome respite.
Algarrobo, Chile
Just south of Valparaiso, the San Alfonso del Mar resort is home to one of the world’s largest saltwater swimming pools stretching over 3,000 feet along the Pacific coast.
Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
You can cool off and observe the local wildlife all at the same time in the Four Seasons Safari Lodge’s free-form infinity pool located right above a watering hole frequented by elephants.
