Serving New Mexico in Business ~ A Family Tradition Since 1892
The Vorenberg family pioneered in northern New Mexico in the 1880’s with the arrival of Alan’s grandparents, Simon Vorenberg and Theresa Harris Vorenberg, and Simon’s brother Jacob, who all came west from Pennsylvania. Simon named the town of Cleveland, NM, where he opened a U.S. Post Office in 1892 and was the first postmaster. He and Theresa later moved to Wagonmound, NM, where Alan’s father Morris was born in 1907, and where Simon started a business and operated The Vorenberg Mercantile Company for many years (photo below was taken 4th of July, 1916, as the Independence Day parade was about to start!). Jacob opened The Vorenberg Hotel in Tucumcari, where he was also in business for many years (third photo below). Simon was a delegate from Mora County to the Constitutional Convention that was convened in Santa Fe in 1910, as the Territory of New Mexico was becoming a U.S. State (second photo below). The Vorenberg family is included in the Jewish Pioneers of New Mexico Exhibition at the Palace of the Governors in Santa Fe. Morris and his wife Adele lived in Carlsbad, NM, where Morris was a stock broker, and where Alan and his sister Tresa were born.
Alan met Anne Jorgensen of Albuquerque in Taos Ski Valley, and they married in 1994 and have three children. Their daughter, Shana, graduated from medical school at the University of New Mexico and is currently an Ob/Gyn physician; their son, Jeremy, has a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology and is currently an electrical engineer at the Air Force Research Laboratory; and their youngest, Trevor, is a junior in college.
Alan worked for 16 years in the restaurant business in Santa Fe at La Tertulia and became a licensed Realtor and sales associate in 1982, a licensed real estate broker in 1989, achieved the Certified Residential Specialist designation in 1992, and more recently the Santa Fe Specialist designation as well. Anne’s business background includes sales, finance, and management with Volvo and ski hardware sales. She became a licensed real estate broker in 1995 and is a Santa Fe Specialist and Certified Home Staging Expert.
Anne’s and Alan’s partnership creates a team with tremendous energy and enthusiasm, and they really enjoy their careers in real estate! Their mission statement as brokers is to provide top-level professional service and expertise for their clients. They know the Santa Fe real estate market very well and bring along a wealth of experience in successful real estate transactions. They also work as brokers in Taos Ski Valley, where there is a lot of exciting new development.
They love living in Santa Fe! It’s one of the best places in the world and offers a fabulous lifestyle! And they relish the great outdoors, especially the mountains and snow skiing. They have a home in Taos Ski Valley, where they love to ski and hike, and white-water rafting is a favorite summertime adventure. Gardening and landscaping at home are hobbies along with a passion for good food and cooking. The whole family enjoys outdoor activities in New Mexico’s wonderful climate!
