The Vorenberg family pioneered in northern New Mexico in the 1880’s with the arrival of Alan’s grandparents, Simon Vorenberg and Theresa Harris Vorenberg, who came west from Pennsylvania. Simon named the town of Cleveland, NM where he opened a US Post Office in 1892 and was the first postmaster. He later ranched at Wagonmound NM, where Alan’s father Morris was born in 1907.
He operated The Vorenberg Mercantile Company there as well (photo above was taken 4th of July, 1916, as the Independence Day parade was about to start!). Simon was a delegate from Mora County to the Constitutional Convention that was convened in Santa Fe in 1910 (photo below), as the Territory of New Mexico was becoming a US State. Simon’s brother Jacob started and ran the The Vorenberg Hotel in Tucumcari, NM (photo at bottom). The Vorenberg family is included in the Jewish Pioneers of New Mexico Exhibit at the Palace of the Governors in Santa Fe.
Alan grew up in Carlsbad NM and, after spending a year in Sweden as a foreign exchange student, attended NM State University and the University of NM. He worked for sixteen years in the restaurant business at La Tertulia in Santa Fe and became a licensed Realtor in 1982, a licensed Real Estate Broker in 1989, and achieved the Certified Residential Specialist designation in 1992.
He met Anne Jorgensen of Albuquerque in Taos Ski Valley, and they married in 1994. They have three children; their daughter Shana, 28, graduated from medical school at the University of New Mexico and is currently an Ob/Gyn physician, their son Jeremy, 26, has a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology and is currently an electrical engineer at the Air Force Research Laboratory, and Trevor, 20, is a junior in college. The whole family has a love for the great outdoors, especially skiing; they have a home in Taos Ski Valley where they love to hike and ski! Golfing and spending time at New Mexico’s lakes are favorite pastimes in the summer. Gardening and landscaping at home are hobbies along with a passion for cooking. The whole family loves enjoying Santa Fe’s wonderful climate!
Anne’s business background includes sales, finance, and management. She became a licensed Real Estate Broker in 1995 and is a certified Home Staging Expert. Anne and Alan’s partnership creates a team with tremendous enthusiasm and energy, and they really enjoy their careers as real estate brokers. Their mission statement as real estate brokers is to provide top level service and expertise for their clients. They know the Santa Fe real estate market very well and bring along a wealth of knowledge and experience. They also work as brokers in Taos Ski Valley, where there is a lot of exciting new development.
