She paid $595,000 for the land, which only had one adobe building at the time. Ms. Pagani, who is in her 50s, spent a decade building a six-building complex that includes a main residence, temple and three guest homes. She lived here while running the Heart-Path Retreat Center.

‘I’ve lived on five different continents, so I wanted to combine everything that is dear to my eye and my heart,” Ms. Pagani says of the décor with Asian, Moroccan and Indonesian influences. The main residence living room is lined with an African multi-color granite.

The kitchen includes an 18th century tile oven from a farmhouse in Switzerland and is lined in Pennsylvania bluestone counter tops. It connects to a breakfast room where Ms. Pagani tends to orchids and other plants.

The kitchen opens to a patio with an outdoor kitchen. ‘The terrace wraps around the house,’ Ms. Pagani says. ‘The south side is for dining and the west side is for relaxing, where you go when the sun is going down.’

Two residences, which Ms. Pagani calls La Casita and La Hacienda, are connected by an outdoor courtyard. A studio, barn, two-bedroom guest house and retreat center were all constructed separately across the property.

A sanctuary within the main residence includes custom stained glass that faces the patio and two stained glass skylights. The separate retreat center includes a temple with an octagonal stained glass skylight that ‘depicts the evolutionary path of the human soul,’ Ms. Pagani says.

The buildings open up to water features, including a koi pond, a large covered terrace and landscaped seating areas. This table was made from a single stone slab. ‘It’s a treasure in itself – it can seat 40,’ Ms. Pagani says.

The entrance to the retreat center is pictured. After hosting numerous events and retreats here, Ms. Pagani is ready to downsize in the Santa Fe area. ‘It’s seen plenty of use,’ she says. ‘Now it’s too big for me.’
