About Southeast Santa Fe

Average Sale Price of Sold Listings in Northeast Santa Fe over last 24 months

Southeast Santa Fe spans not only an enormous area but an expansive range of home styles and atmospheres.

From traditional, historic adobes in centuries-old neighborhoods to contemporary homes perched high above the valley floor with views of the Sandias to mountain idylls suitable for horses, the southeast has variety.

Along the Santa Fe River and climbing up the picturesque streets beyond is the Historic Eastside and Canyon Road, boasting quiet lanes, art galleries and shops – all within easy walking distance to the Plaza and other cultural features.

Across Old Santa Fe Trail from the Historic Eastside is the South Capitol district full of many different architectural styles. From bungalows to brick homes to older adobes, the different styles all work together to create a lovely mosaic. The trees are old and large, the sidewalks broad and well-planned. Wood Gormley elementary school is centrally located.

The bustling Guadalupe Historic & Railyard District is a beautiful, regenerated area just to the west and includes the Santa Fe Farmer’s Market, movie theaters and restaurants.

Further east you’ll find lovely old estates and family compounds with gorgeous views of Atalaya, Monte Sol and Monte Luna – and access to hiking trails.

Travel along the splendid Old Santa Fe Trail and you will find a delightful mix of gracious, adobe homes and newer architectural wonders. The ‘museum district’ is full of beauties and houses the Museum Of International Folk Art, The Museum Of Indian Arts and Culture, The Wheelwright Museum Of The American Indian and the Museum of Spanish Colonial Art.

As the Old Santa Fe Trail winds east, impressive view homes climb high above, the terrain dotted with piñon and juniper. You will pass the wonderful golf community, Quail Run and other neighborhoods with established gardens and landscaping.

Further east, lovely, heavily-forested communities run alongside. Located in the foothills of the Sangres, the lower elevations provide rolling hills of pinon and juniper with the high-elevation nestled in mountainous terrain. All have wonderful views of the Sandias and famous Santa Fe sunsets. Most lots start at 2.5 acres and some are over ten. The area includes Double Arrow Road, La Barberia, Arroyo Hondo and Seton Village of Boy Scout fame.

Across I-25 is the established bedroom community of Eldorado – a mix of families, retirees, singles and couples–with its own commercial center, elementary school and social/recreational center, Eldorado is only twenty minutes from Santa Fe and feels like a transition between city and country.

The area immediately south of Eldorado is Highway 285 is part of the old Sebastian De Vargas Grant and comprises 2,500 or so acres – lovely tree-covered artist and ranching villages are surrounded by gently rolling hills.
